Questions on SPF15 Liquid Canvas

  • From Karen at 16/12/11 7:54 AM
    • Hello,
After cleansing with Liquid Detox, can I use Liquid Facelift or Liquid Erase prior to applying Liquid Canvas in the morning?
Are either of these products OK to use underneath Liquid Canvas?
      Thank you,
      Karen
    • Hi Karen .... if you are using Liquid Canvas then you should not use either Liquid Facelift or Liquid Erase in the morning. You want your skin to be dry prior to applying. I use canvas and alternate Liquid Erase and Liquid Facelift of an evening. I also just use Liquid Erase in the morning if I am not putting on make up on the day. Hope that helps!

    • hi, i'd just like a little clarification on your active sunscreen ingredients... the ingredients list them as minerals but above you say they are chemicals. my question is are they physical blockers (minerals like zinc oxide or titanium diozide) or chemical blockers (like oxybenzone, octyl salicylate, avobenzone, etc)? thank you!
    • We are currently using primarily 'organic' rather than 'inorganic' chemical UV absorbers in this product. Mineral blockers are inorganic. None of the mineral blockers provide a high (or in our opinion adequate) level of UVA protection and there is currently debate about changing the Australian Regulations in line with the European Regulations to better inform consumers. We were pleased to see that Body & Soul wrote on this very issue a few weeks ago.

We take protection extremely seriously. To do that we have been forced to use UV absorbers to boost the UVA protection component in this product. There are new materials coming on the market all the time and we are actively and continuously testing materials with a view to constantly improving our offer. These materials also need to work with the underlying formulation (of which the Liquid Canvas is particularly challenging).

Our number one concern is protection from sun damage (see my blog entry today on this). In terms of the mineral it is a UV light deflector. We will make this clearer on the label to help consumers decide what is right for them.

  • From Laurel at 28/02/11 8:58 PM
    • Is this product suitable for combination/oily skin, skin that is prone to pimples?
    • It is difficult for me to answer this question without a little more information. I appreciate the question is in relation to Liquid Canvas but I would strongly recommend the use of Liquid Detox prior to application of any products if you concern is with regard to skin condition. We are getting fabulous results on skin tone from our customers with this product.

That said and assuming that the condition of your skin has been addressed with your cleanser - the key to using this product is to use it extremely sparingly (about 1 pump should do the whole face). The product is thick but it moves on your face and then dries quickly so the key is to use only a small amount and spread it so it forms a light film or canvas if you like on the skin so the skin can still breath. It is our experience that some customers are using far too much product which is actually getting in the way of results.

We will very shortly (hopefully in the next week) have a video of a leading makeup artist showing you how to apply Liquid Canvas with mineral makeup on our video tab. The demonstration is on a 20 - 30 something (did not like to ask her age!). Used properly this product should actually be non-comdogenic.

      Hope this helps!

    • I'd just like to know if the spf15 is from a natural or chemical source and if it uses nanotechnology?
    • Rest assured we do not use nano-technology under any circumstances.

The selection of sunscreen is a very personal one. We use ones of chemical origin. Being Australian we take adequate protection from the sun very serious and a broadspectrum high rated UVA & UVB coverage is not negotiable and from our perspective a beauty essential.

The current international standard is anticipated to be introduced to Australia in January 2011. This is a star based rating system with up to 4 stars. The natural sunscreens only give 1 - 2 star coverage. Our sunscreen gives 3-4 stars which is the highest coverage possible. In selecting the sunscreens we have gone for the safest and most effective ingredients. Thankyou for your question and we will list these sunscreens on our ingredients panel.

    • Will I need to use moisturiser under/over Liquid Canvas and can I use it around eye area?
    • Hello!

You do not need a moisturizer under/over Liquid Canvas and in fact it will be counter-productive. The key break-through in Liquid Canvas is to acheive a matt finish after application so that makeup does not clog, cake, and come off everywhere! So Liquid Canvas includes everything you would expect of a moisturizer (vitamins, vitamin rich oils, anti-oxidants - and in this case an SPF15) but will not be wet or sticky after application. I apply this one product in the morning and then go straight to mineral makeup. The eye area is always delicate and everyone is different. I apply it over my whole face and around the eye area with care but not the eyelids. The essential oils used in the fragrance are low - but some people may be more sensitive than others.

      Enjoy!
